Osthoff Resort Addition
Rohde Bros. Inc performed the design and installation of the HVAC system on this 4.5 star resort addition in Elkhart Lake, WI. This unique project includes 48 condominium units, a 20,000 sq foot convention center with full kitchen facilities, a 25,000 square foot spa, and a 10,000 sq foot restaurant overlooking Elkhart Lake. Each condo unit was outfitted with two or three heat pumps to provide the heating and cooling for the space. By incorporating a heat recovery system which captures the waste heat from the kitchen coolers, the boilers were only used three times during the winter of 2005-06. Key features of this design include:
- Heat Recovery system used to provide “Free” heat to the condo units
- Heat Pumps which simultaneously provide heating and cooling for different condo units. Units with a southern exposure reject the heat into the closed loop system while units with a northern exposure use this to heat that side of the building
- 10,000 square feet of the spa area has infloor heat
