Job Description: Senior Engineer/Project Manager

Purpose: Build and maintain customer relationships with existing and prospective accounts. Actively partner with customers to create opportunities to expand offerings positioning Rohde as the provider of choice. Responsible for sales relating to construction of HVAC, industrial piping, and industrial sheet metal systems. Manage design and construction of projects to ensure successful implementation. This includes business development, implementation, marketing, and monitoring progress.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as project manager, account manager and sales engineer as required to identify, develop and complete projects on time and within budget to support growth of Rohde as a whole.
  2. Develops and maintains relations and sales with current client base.
  3. Prospects to identify and develop relationships with new clients.
  4. Meet with customer to develop project scope, conceptual estimating, and develop concept drawings.
  5. Work with estimators, engineers and designers to develop estimates and proposals for construction of mechanical systems within Rohde’s capabilities, including HVAC, industrial refrigeration, process piping, dust collection, industrial sheet metal, controls, and plumbing.
  6. Present proposals and negotiate final sales.
  7. Direct and coordinate project team to finalize scope and pricing, deliver proposal and finalize the sale.
  8. Responsible for scheduling and leading project kickoff and close out meetings with project staff.
  9. Work with project team to determine areas for pre-fabrication.
  10. Oversees and monitors performance of project team to verify compliance with contractual obligations.
  11. Manage and control the cost of materials and labor of each project.
  12. Work with project team to solve construction issues as they arise.
  13. Responsible to provide reports regarding the projects as needed.
  14. Act as quality control and assure that project objectives are met.
  15. Ensure the construction safety rules and regulations are met.
  16. Mentors fellow employees to enhance their skill sets.
  17. Works closely with management to develop and implement a strategy for business growth.
  18. Advise customers on how best to use the products or services provided.
  19. Be a problem solver for customers.
  20. Establish and maintain good relations with clients and local authorities aimed at safeguarding and promoting the client interests.
  21. Ensures that client policy and procedures are consistently implemented across the project.
  22. Develop and implement SOP’s for estimating, project turnover, project management and project closeout.
  23. Participate in trade association and other networking activities.
  24. Other duties as requested, directed or assigned by supervisor

Qualification/Skills:

  1. Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.
  2. Experience with design and construction of mechanical systems.
  3. Excellent problem solving, analytical, and trouble shooting skills.
  4. Knowledge of construction costs, estimating and project management.
  5. Excellent communication skills, including listening, reasoning, verbal and written.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  2. Minimum 10 years’ experience with design and/or construction of mechanical systems.
  3. Professional Engineering license, CEM certification, LEED AP, and/or other trade related accreditations are preferred.

Physical/Environmental/Work Requirements:

  1. Must be able to: Travel to customer locations. Stand or walk for long periods of time during the regular work day; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 5 to 50 pounds.
  2. Must be able to: Perform assigned tasks under all types of environmental and weather conditions including severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather and high winds. Environmental conditions may include areas where toxic or caustics chemicals or fumes are in use or being stored.
  3. Works in an office environment using computer and other office equipment.
