JOB DESCRIPTION: Project Manager

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

PURPOSE:  Manage construction of Industrial, commercial, and institutional projects within Rohde Brothers, Inc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Survey the construction site and work with customer to determine project needs.
  2. Work with Project Engineers and Designer as needed to design the project systems after determining the needs.
  3. Manages, directs, and coordinates small projects with responsibility for delivering the project to the client in compliance with all requirements.
  4. Plan and manage large construction projects.
  5. Provide onsite information as required and address needs.
  6. Identify areas for pre-fabrication and work with Field Staff, Project Engineers and Designers to create fabrication drawings.
  7. Schedule pre-fabrication work to meet job site and shop schedules.
  8. Obtain construction materials and verify them.
  9. Monitor the cost of materials and labor of each project.
  10. Work with project team to solve construction issues as they rise on the site.
  11. Responsible to provide reports regarding the projects as needed.
  12. Act as quality control and assure that project objectives are met.
  13. Ensure the construction safety rules and regulations are met.
  14. Prepare the budget and monitor progress compared to the estimated cost.
  15. Mentors fellow employees to enhance their skill sets.
  16. Works closely with management to develop and implement a strategy for business growth.
  17. Advise customers on how best to use the products or services provided.
  18. Advise customers how products and services could be designed or modified to suit customer needs.
  19. Use technical skills to explain the benefits of our products to potential customers and demonstrate how our products and services are better than our competitors.
  20. Be a problem solver for customers.
  21. Establish and maintain good relations with clients and local authorities aimed at safeguarding and promoting the client interests.
  22. Identify and develop new products.
  23. Achieves or exceed the budgeted sales and profits.
  24. Verify compliance with local authorities, environmental agencies, state and federal entities.
  25. Ensures that client policy and procedures are consistently implemented across the project.
  26. Monitors performance of suppliers and sub-contractors to determine compliance with contractual obligations. Resolve issues that come up during and after the project.
  27. Prepares accurate cost analyses of all development projects and forecasts accurate project completion dates.

  1. Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.
  2. Excellent problem solving, analytical, and trouble shooting skills.
  3. Must have excellent listening skills.
  4. Knowledge of estimating time and material requirements.
  5. Excellent reasoning, verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Excellent consultative style of communication skills.
  7. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

Education and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent. Plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction of mechanical systems.  Relevant experience includes:  estimating, project management, design or field experience.
  2. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is a plus.
  3. Professional Engineering registration is a plus.

Physical/Environmental/Work Requirements:

  1. Must be able to: Travel to customer locations.  Stand or walk for long periods of time during the regular work day; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 5 to 50 pounds.
  2. Must be able to: Perform assigned tasks under all types of environmental and weather conditions including severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather and high winds.  Environmental conditions may include areas where toxic or caustics chemicals or fumes are in use or being stored.
  3. Works in an office environment using computer and other office equipment.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
