RECIRCULATED COOLING WATER SYSTEM
A sequenced rebuild of plant-wide recirculated water cooling system for aluminum die-casting operations, with no disruption to plant production. Improved water quality, while reducing water requirements.
"Rohde Brothers, Inc. was instrumental in providing a completely new cooling system, replace all existing cooling piping to and from the existing machines, as well as provide new piping to the new machines without shutting down production." said Steve Mlinaz, senior facilities engineer, Mercury Marine.
The Rohde team installed new hot and cold wells in the new tunnel, connecting the existing plant to a new addition. In addition to replacing pumps and controls, Rohde replaced and expanded the tunnel’s utility piping. Rohde first moved the cooling towers to a temporary location before placing them in their permanent residence on the adjacent roof.
As a result, water flow rates were reduced, allowing for lower pumping energy costs, in addition to improved water quality, leading to reduced maintenance costs.
